COMMUNITY PROJECTS
Take a Look
WINDOW PAINTING
For the last several seasons, Pewaukee Area Arts Council artists have worked in partnership with Positively Pewaukee to create beautiful hand-painted storefront business windows in Pewaukee. Funds were raised to support PAAC.
Spring-themed windows and winter woodland creatures brightened the business district and drew customers to visit the businesses. The winter windows even featured a hidden gnome in each window creations that became a scavenger hunt for local children.
Thank you to all PAAC the artists who donated their time and talents to this community-enhancement project – led by board member and talented painter Terri Field who painted five windows herself.
Look for more partnerships in the future.
GINGERBREAD HOUSES
Each year in December, the Pewaukee Area Arts Council works in partnership with the Village of Pewaukee Police Department and Positively Pewaukee to bring the joy of decorating gingerbread houses to community children.
Most years, children come to the police department to pick up a blank paper gingerbread house and choose from a buffet of decorations like colorful garland, pompoms, sparkles and more to make the houses their own. Police officers help the children in the creation-station room. A pick-up-and-go event took place in 2020 due to the pandemic.
The event is free to participants and run by PAAC board member Melinda Kanavas. Special thanks to event donors Chris Lueth of American Family Insurance and PAAC board member Lise Miley for helping to bring smiles to children in our community.
